Kentucky Music Hall of Fame to Celebrate Seven Inductees at 2026 Ceremony in Lexington

The Kentucky Music Hall of Fame & Museum will celebrate the outstanding musical contributions of seven individuals during its 2026 Induction Ceremony and Dinner on Saturday, October 24, at The Campbell House in Lexington, Kentucky. The event will recognize a diverse group of Kentuckians whose talents, dedication, and influence have helped shape the music industry and preserve the Commonwealth’s rich musical heritage.

The Class of 2026 includes:

  • Arthur B. Hancock III — Accomplished songwriter whose work reflects Kentucky’s deep-rooted storytelling traditions and horse racing
  • Byron Roberts — Founder of the Kickin’ It on the Creek festival, which helped launch the careers of numerous Kentucky musicians and helped the growth of the state’s independent music scene.
  • Charlie Gearheart — Singer-songwriter and member of the legendary Goose Creek Symphony, known for his contributions to the band’s distinctive blend of country, rock, and Americana.
  • Chris Kael — Bassist and backing vocalist for internationally recognized heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch, representing Kentucky’s impact on the global rock and metal scene.
  • Darrell Scott — Celebrated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose songwriting has earned widespread recognition across country, bluegrass, Americana, and roots music.
  • Sundy Best — Kentucky music duo known for blending traditional influences with contemporary songwriting and an unmistakable Appalachian sound.
  • Velma Williams Smith — Historic trailblazer recognized as the first female guitarist to play on recordings, helping break barriers for women in the music industry.

Together, these inductees represent the remarkable diversity of Kentucky music, spanning songwriting, traditional roots music, Americana, country, rock, and heavy metal. Their accomplishments demonstrate that Kentucky’s musical influence reaches far beyond the state’s borders and continues to inspire generations of artists and fans.

“Every induction class reminds us that Kentucky’s musical legacy is about much more than the songs we hear on the radio,” said Jessica Blankenship, Executive Director of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame & Museum. “It is about the people who create the music, the communities that support it, the traditions that are passed down, and the doors that are opened for the next generation. This year’s class represents so many different aspects of our music industry, and we are honored to recognize their contributions.”

The 2026 Induction Ceremony and Dinner will feature special performances and presentations honoring the inductees, along with the presentation of Hall of Fame trophies. The event also marks the official kickoff of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame & Museum’s 25th anniversary celebration, commemorating the institution’s opening in 2002.
